I have reproduced the print seminar schedule here, just to show what it might look like.  It did take some work to add the list items, and a little custom coding for the nested lists. Most of this can be done easily with the Kitchen Sink GUI editor tools in the page edit dashboard.

  • 9 am -10:20 am: Orientation and overview

  • 10:30 am – 12 pm: Presentation and discussion led by Dr. Divale: General philosophy, online course design ideas and syllabus.
  • 12 pm – 1 pm: Lunch break
  • 1 pm – 1:50 pm: Hands-on session (WH) on course module design using backward design principle.
  • 2 pm – 4 pm: Hands-on session (WH) – Getting started with Blackboard (Bb overview, content vs. tools, creating blog entries, Discussion Board, email, class member home page, course site design, etc.)

Monday, 6/7/10

  • 9 am – 10:30 am: Presentation and discussion led by Dr. Cripps: Exploring different technological tools, ePortfolio.
  • 10:40 am – 12 pm: Presentation by Dr. Patricia Aceves – Director of the Faculty Center, SUNY at Stony Brook: Student support in online/hybrid course environment.
  • 12 pm – 1 pm: Lunch break
  • 1 pm – 2:30 pm: Hands-on session (Dr. Divale): Voice over PowerPoint presentation and screencast with Camtasia.
  • 2:40 pm – 4 pm: Hands-on session (WH) – Blackboard (Grade Center, assignment tool, SafeAssign, groups).

Monday, 6/14/10

  • 9 am – 10:50 am: Presentation and discussion led by Dr. Cripps: Using multimedia web resources for richer learning experience.
  • 11 am – 12 am: Presentation and discussion led by WH: Instructional design, facilitation and assessment of online discussion.
  • 12 pm – 1 pm: Lunch break
  • 1 pm – 2:50 pm: Hands-on session (Dr. Divale): Creating wikis for group project; follow up with Camtasia assignment.
  • 3 pm – 4 pm: Hands-on session (WH) – Blackboard (Peer-assessment tool, tools for keeping students on-track, etc.).

Monday, 6/21/10

  • 9 am – 9:50 am: Hands-on session (WH) – Blackboard (quizzes, adaptive release, course site house-keeping and management tools), Podcast, Lesson Builder.
